Frequently asked questions
Why will nothing open my WebP file?
WebP was designed for the web, so browsers handle it well but a lot of desktop and print software never added support. Converting to JPG solves it, because JPG is supported by effectively every image application ever written.
Does converting WebP to JPG lose quality?
Both formats are lossy, so a conversion re-encodes the image once. At the default quality of 90 the difference is not visible in normal viewing. Raising quality further mostly adds file size rather than detail.
What happens to transparency?
JPG does not support transparency. Any transparent areas are filled with white during conversion, which is the right result for product photography on a white background. If you need transparency, convert to PNG instead.
Can I convert many WebP files at once?
Yes. Add as many as you like (up to 100 files, 50 MB each) and download them together as a ZIP.
Is it free?
